May Newsletter
Hi Gardeners,
Well at last we have received some very welcome rain……. Even though it’s far from what we would like, it’s better than nothing!
Lovely to see the garden looking refreshed. Maude (our Scarecrow) has a big smile on her face.
Our May Newsletter is attached.
We look forward to seeing you at the garden next Saturday, 1st June, for our “First Saturday in the Month” Working Bee.
Cheers for now.
Pauline.
ANGLESEA INCREDIBLE EDIBLES
News from your Committee
Working Bee
The next working bee is on Saturday 1 June. During the winter months we will have a morning tea together rather than lunch.
Please bring heaps of garden and kitchen scraps to help make compost..
Shelter
We are very grateful to John Siversen who has almost finished the plans for the shelter. After a site meeting with the committee, he will discuss the plan with the Surf Coast Council Planning Department.
Glasshouse
We have decided to build a poly tunnel instead of a glass house. This will avoid problems with safety issues, obtaining a planning permit and difficulty with the construction. Bill McKellar is donating poles for the poly tunnel and the rest will be purchased from the Grant we received
Shelter for the orchard
Mick has drawn up plans for a wooden structure over the fruit trees. Julie is applying for a grant from Alcoa to help towards the cost.
Planting plans
The committee will discuss planting plans for the community beds at each meeting. Have a look at the book in the shed which will give a complete planting guide, along with other information for each season. There is also an excellent companion planting guide to see and don’t forget the ideas book for any suggestions you might have for the garden.
Supplies for sale
Mushroom compost is $5 a bag.
Sheep poo is $6 per bag.
Hay is $9 per bale.
Put your money and name in the tin in the shed please.
